District 9 Teaser released – Before Wolverine/Online

UPDATE: To view the trailer in HD - http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/district9/

The District 9 teaser was before Wolverine, which was released today. The trailer shows what seems to be a documentary being filmed (much like the Alive in Joburg short film this movie is based off of) in South Africa. The natives are talking about the aliens which now live amongst them, in a society I would call ’seprate but equal’. It shows an alien who’s face is blurred. Its my understanding in the movie, they won’t be.

This movie is said by many to be the big summer surprise. When I saw it in front of Wolverine, people chuckled at it until they saw the “They are not human” text and then the massive craft hovering over the small city, then their faces went to “oh my god”.

do the aliens look the same as in the “Alive in Joberg” short??

For the most part, yes. We only really see one. But I would say it seemed more robotic.

I’d say it’s more of an insect than a robot.

Just finished watching the huge hd version from apple for the third time. It looks like this could be a good movie. I would agree with Clep and say the aliens look more like insect and they look very different from the ones in the short. I think the ones in the short were scaryer and grittier, more realistic. The one in the trailer is so perfect and computerized and looks too easy. He still looks cool to me though, and I love the fact that they’re pixeling the faces still. It keeps it scary, like you can’t look into their eyes. I wish they would pixelate all of them and only let pieces stick out when there’s a quick action. That would make the reveal later on moer scary. But I love the documentary style and how People look like real people and it’s almost believeable at first. The visual effects take away from the reality, but still, I’m excited. I have been ever since I stumbled on the viral campaign and I’m glad this movie’s almost here.

hey..so why do you think the aliens will not be blurred in the final movie? or why were they blurred in the trailer?

  10. May 2nd, 2009 at 11:36 | #10

They were blurred in the trailer because thats how the short film was shot (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTll8k_BBys). I’ve heard from others who have seen more of the film that the movie won’t blur the faces of the aliens.

Yeah they did it for the teaser and because the documentary part of the film does it.

  12. May 2nd, 2009 at 17:53 | #12

They should have blurred all of it. I think they’re going more for realistic than scary though. I just think it would be cool if the aliens were all blurred out. I have a question. Is the movie going to be more of a documentary or just a normal film.

  13. May 2nd, 2009 at 19:08 | #13

A normal film, for the most part. From what I’ve heard there may be parts of it, or the first 5 minutes of it, shot like a documentary.

Dear God… this is SOOO New World Order propaganda… Everything from the All-Seeing Eye being the symbol for District 9, to what is actually in the movie, such as “Identification tags will be issued by MNU and, as such, be maintained in the central MNU database.” Sound like the RFID chip, anyone? And the Privatized Security and Law Enforcement, to the Death Camp type areas… This is awful. This is just freaking terrible.

I agree with Amanda. All of this just seems TOO real to just be a movie. This is just the government/Illuminati conditioning us to get used to the idea of being segregated and controled…and not to mention CHIPPED. Everyone needs to wake up and see that this is not going to be a fiction story for long.
